Getting Old Poem by Roselyn A.M.

Getting Old

Fine lines, laugh lines on our face
We try to hide them in any ways
Rub here, rub there
Round and round like circles
Put an anti-aging cream
Just to diminish them
Whose business is it anyway
If sometimes we think
To trade even our last cents
For something or anything
That will keep our looks young then

But why are we afraid of getting old
Hide all these wrinkles at the most
Do we fear of losing our youth
Of aging that fades the beauty we once own
What is the truth that we’re trying to hide
Fear of wrinkles or having our skin sag
Or we don’t want to be treated like crap
Or we fear the cold barren graveyard

Whatever are the reasons behind
I just want to emphasize
Everyone ages and death is for all
We should not be afraid of the inevitable
Life is too short
We cannot turn the hands of time back around
So while we are still young
Better do the things we want in life
As long as we do not harm others lives
Take the great freedom God has given us
