Girl and the Snake

Girl Beautiful!
Behind the girl and
Unknown to her
Snake beautiful! !

Aimed my pistol
Direct at the snake;
Screamed the girl
Pointing at me!

Gone was the snake
Scared it was;
Lonely I am
Languishing in jail!

Girl was beautiful
And so was the snake!
Who is my enemy
Girl or the snake?

Poem of the Day

poet Christina Georgina Rossetti

Where sunless rivers weep
Their waves into the deep,
She sleeps a charmed sleep:
Awake her not.
Led by a single star,
She came from very far
