Gleeful Poem by Dave Dunn

Gleeful

Gleeful

Wisdom born before her years
Graceful hair swept behind both ears
Arched neck showing lots of poise
On her toes to reach the boys

Simple pleasures for all to see
Smiling coyly by shading tree
Banter with the other girls
Pleated skirts performing twirls

When the bell tolls off they run
Time to change and dash to mum
Pleasant smile at the old school gates
Hello to mum who with others waits

Guess what we learnt in class today
In olden times they used to play
With skipping ropes just like we do
When you were young was that still true

Innocence is such a thrilling time
Not so easy when they're on line
But mums and dads like to watch them play
All glowing eyed and gleeful again today
