Go And Catch A Falling Star Poem by Rm. Shanmugam Chettiar

Go And Catch A Falling Star

Go and catch a falling star.
Can you get back the time last?
‘Teach me to hear Mermaids singing;
Or to keep off envies stinging.’
Ride anywhere for all time
Until your hair turns snow;
If you come across a woman
Both beautiful and faithful,
Your journey is a success.
‘Though she were true when you met her
And last till you write your letter’
Her constancy will soon wane
And disappear by the time
You write a third letter to her.
[Baed on the poem with the same title by John Donne 1572-1631]
