God Does Not Have To Exist
God does not have to exist. Even it is a concept and that concept brings good to human- it's worthy. There are things that exist and cause harm to human. Even though they exist they are not worthy.
To me God or no God, is not an issue. To me important is- what human does with it. Human can be good with God or without God. This is why I am neither a theist nor an atheist. I just believe in thinking good for human, other lives and nature.

For having human values this is very important to have spiritual knowledge and practice this in life. Having trust in God we inherit his all rights as he is ocean of peace, love and bliss and ocean of all values. An atheist who says that he does not believe in God, certainly he searches for happiness, peace and fortune in his life. Although he goes in diverse direction still he agrees in happiness. Indirectly he trusts in God in this way.
you are very true. for many being good is easier when they do it through God. Some choose not to do it through believe in God. Stephen Hawking possibly no less virtuous than many believers. But in your words, I would say he worshiped God in his own way (without acknowledging it) . This is such an area we can be easily misinterpreted. That is why people like you should come forward.
Without spirituality a person can never be certainly good and kind to all. Science talks about Super Cosmic Power and we tell this power as God. He is our eternal father and we can never question in his existence as since eternity he is our creator. Every soul is his child. A person becomes good in conduct while he obeys God's wisdom. If not, easily he falls in trap of illusion and vices like greed, attachment, jealousy etc. and commits sin in his action.
You are neither a theist nor an atheist. You are in between these two and you identify self in transit. God is there or not is not issue for you. Certainly you have confusion in his existence. But you trust in goodness and in a good human being. While you talk about goodness automatically you agree in love, peace, ethics, morality, humility, humanity and all values. Indirectly you agree in goodness means you agree in God's existence.

Robert, I am equally sorry to see today's killings of lives in name of religion. But I am not sure if I can justify attaching harm and God/religion together. With science human has cured and human has killed. With religion too, human has healed and human has killed. An evil mind can use anything to harm others. This is why ownership lies with people who use science or religion or anything. Those people need to be accused not science or religion.
