God,
Give me back my joy;
Give me back my good friends;
Give me back my good old days,
When I was just a boy!
God,
Give me back my peace;
Give me back my will-pow’r;
Give me back my piety,
When I had no disease!
God,
Give me back my heart;
Give me back my faith / hope;
Give me back my love of Thee,
Which I had from the start!

Yes, of course Michael. But this is just a wish and the poet pines for some lost assets of life. Thank you for the comment anyway. with regards,
The true poet must always be willing to give himself away in words. You felt this one deeply and it shows. An excellent creative effort. Kindest regards, Sandra Fowler
You probably can't have all of that - but the last stanza sounds eminently do-able!
in the end there can be only peace the heart always close to home and the final shelter of love a fine poem
