God's Will Poem by Robert R. Railey

God's Will

God's Will

One of the most difficult exercises for a human being to ever accomplish is to figure out just exactly what God's will is for us; and then of course, to follow that guidance to its conclusion
It's been said that many people have a selfish motive when they pray; and as such, they usually end up receiving one of the following answers
One of which is a resounding yes, although the answer could just as easily be a no: then the third answer to our prayer might just be a maybe; and which then which leaves the fourth and final answer to our prayer request which is you must be kidding
So it seems as if the best way to obtain a favorable answer to our prayers is for us to be on a high spiritual plane with our creator which brings to mind the biblical story of the son and the beggar which states that; "A beggar supplicates, but a son appropriates"
For if a beggar hasn't been praying regularly then his prayers might not be answered as quickly as those of a person who not only has been steadfast and loyal to
God, but has prayed more frequently; and therefore, the person that prays regularly might just possibly receive a more favorable answer from God
And speaking of the art of prayer, its long been said that if we pray for the welfare of others then our prayers will stand a much better chance of being answered; so perhaps we should pray for other people and not just for the things that please us
Then too, there are numerous times in our lives when we don't necessarily like the answers that we receive from God
For as humans, we always want what we want when we want it; and generally speaking we want it now
But take heart dear friend, and please don't give up on praying just yet for even if you don't get what you want you might just get what you need for God knows all and he has long range plans for us that we don't always understand
But to answer the age-old question of how does one know what God's will is for us; well, it suffices to say that if the answer to your prayer feels all warm and fuzzy then it's probably God's will, but if the answer to your prayer feels all itchy and scratchy then it's probably your own will trying to shine through
