(((Going Nowhere))) Poem by Theodora (Theo) Onken

(((Going Nowhere)))

Rating: 3.7

Anxiety rides my coatails...
As i push ever onward ahead-
Afraid to live...
Afraid to die-afraid of the dead;
In this kalidescope of cornucopia...
Overwhelmed and overflowing...
Each breath...
Each heartbeat-growing;
In unison...
With the tic and the tock...
Wired and preprogrammed---
Inside of my bodies clock;
Cycling over and over again...
Another moment wasted...
Another second down the drain...
Oppurtunities pass me by-untasted;
Like traffic in this-my freeway of life...
But do i ever really reach out?
The answer is-no--
Oh, i push on-with nary a shout;
Tread upon the heavy roads of worry...
That line the grey matter of my head...
That weighs me down with fear and despair...
Fearing the living- and fearing the dead;
