Gone Poem by McKayla Thomas

Gone

It's been four years now, it's came and went,
the one day a year I mostly regret.
You were here in this world, but look how quickly you left,
it was a normal day as far as I knew, until he came
and told me the news.
Within five minutes my life had changed,
I knew in those few minutes the color from my face
had surely drained.
It's so hard to believe so long could pass,
it goes around the year but the day comes at last.
The hurt isn't gone but the pain I can stand.
One thing I can't is 'It won't hurt in the end.'
