Goodbye My Friend. Poem by Maria Shaw

Goodbye My Friend.

Rating: 5.0

I watched from a distance
I didn't say a word
as you wasted away
right before my face.

She had such a hold
I stood by, in denial.
You deteriorated in front of my eyes
yet I kept my distance for you'd chose a new life.

Time and time again
you tried to end your life
I stood there at your side
trying to be your friend.

If only I'd told you to leave
if only I'd made you feel strong
you'd still be here with me
and our friendship would live on.
