The leaves of summer fall
as autumn draws near
it hums a silent tune
of loneliness and fear

the tears now fall like rain
and the songs of love had faded
as the numbness in my soul
engulf my everything, my all

... then came your smile, your laughter, and your caring
... a cure to ease my darkness, my sorrow and despair
... and now as morning opens I sit silently in joy
... I bid goodbye to heartache who had chained me far too long
