in the distant hills
a solitary firefly
caresses the night
My friend suggested another version: in the distant hills a solitary firefly caressed by the night Equally perfect in imagery.

Both versions are good, although your version brings to mind the firefly dancing in the dark- it's actions memerizing, rathr than the stillness of night embracing it- sounds sadder somehow. love you poems richard, got a few saved as my favourites. Basho once said write if you can write at least four good haiku's-you're a master. hear's to reading more.
