Happiness—the Elixir Poem by Farheen Viquas

Happiness—the Elixir

Rating: 0.5

Here, I see my past snooping by my side
With myriad memories and anecdotes swooping my stride
Took a note of one and the other kept calling
With a gleam in their eyes; they started bawling
Was on a seesaw of laughter and a tear caught by a string
Became a hitcher on this ride of remembering
Bemused of where I was
How a sudden pause?
Where all of this was lurking?
Yikes! No reason for sulking
Neither what future holds that matters
Nor the past acts as fetters
Depends on you, really what you care
Either worry for your life or enjoy it as a fair
Sigh! A chance occurrence of my past
Agreed, not for quite long did it last
Lessons in life as citizen or rover
Teach you to succumb or to jump over
Strands of life make picturesque gallery
Disheartened? No shouldn’t; not everyone can be Malory
Successful or not
Never fraught
If you not great as one among the busts at the busy station,
Remember, life lived with a smile is one that’s worth a mention.
