You and me, we were always the best of friends,
From school to college, from beginning to end.

Through all these years, our friendship grew,
Together we studies, laughed, played and fought too.

We started caring for each other, since the day we met,
We loved helping each other, right from sunrise to sunset.

Whether it was TT, cricket or cards, we were partners in game,
We did everything to win, we even cheated without any shame.

During graduation days you taught me, what I should study and what not,
Therefore, the credit for my great grades, goes to you too a lot.

Without you, there were times, I would have gone lost,
But you were always there, when I needed guidance the most.

There were moments too, when you said things you shouldn’t have said,
I don’t know what was going on, at that time inside your head.

Regardless of this, you did everything to see on my face, a smile,
In your company, I forgot every worry for a while.

But one summer night, things between us went terribly wrong,
Not one of us had imagined that, after our friendship of 9 years long.

You wished not to see my face again, and said goodbye,
Without knowing that this would caused fall of first tear from my left eye.

You moved ahead in your life, without even a clue,
What it would do to me, but you did what your heart told you to do.

I lost my partner, my criticizer and most importantly my best friend,
Differences built up between us, which became too difficult to mend.

Days turned into months, months into years, without a word from you,
You meant all those words so seriously, I never knew.

Then, I walked by you like a complete stranger, one winter night,
I wasn’t aware that my presence had caught, your sight.

You felt so strange, somewhere inside your heart,
And questioned yourself, Is this what happens when 2 best friends depart.

You contacted me, and asked how life treated me during all these years,
I told you everything, without knowing that this could cost me your tears.

We cleared all our misunderstandings, our friendship got reinstated,
It’s a all new beginning for us, painful memories from the past have now faded.

After all, for making up with your friends, it’s never too late,
Our friendship went through all that, as it was our fate.

2009 is being so far great, as we got back our best mate,
We can now rely on each other anytime, without being hesitate.

Few more days, and you’ll start the journey of your married life,
I wish all good things ahead, for you and for your would be wife.

I hope she doesn’t mind that your best friend is a girl,
And may our friendship always shine like a beautiful pearl.

Today is your birthday, and as you turned twenty-three,
I wish to the Almighty, may your life be always tension-free.

May God bless you with happiness, success, and his care,
Not only on this special day, but throughout the year.
