Happy Father's Day Poem by Gajanan Balasubramaniam

Happy Father's Day

Rating: 4.5

He wouldn't read out books to me,
He made me read books myself.
He didn't solve my problems for me,
He made me solve them myself.
He didn't give me answers to all my questions,
He showed how to figure out the answers.
He didn't let me play all the while,
He made me realise my priorities.
He didn't guard me when I was in trouble,
He did teach me to feel responsible.
He never treated me like a boy,
He treated me like a man, a small one nevertheless!
He never was the Dad like the other boys had,
He was the Dad that most boys should have had.
For today, I am what he taught me to be,
And I cannot be any better for my child.
