Happy Violence Poem by Romesh De Silva

Happy Violence

My heart, body and soul are as happy as in the past
Smiles, laughs and good times never ending
A lonely tear trickles down my left cheek slow but fast
It connects with my smile like water to fire
Haven’t felt love or pain for what seems to be a while
Happiness, warmth and friends are all I need, all I desire
Seams of time are gradually unpicked and unravelled
I listen so close to my silence, the glass I sip from is half-empty full
I erupt in a happy violence.
