Hard As A Diamond Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Hard As A Diamond

Suffering for a while is very common,
As surely as the rain comes, all men face it.
But suffering that stays on for years, oh man-
It can drain everything and your will, forfeit.

When each day is like a daily dose of rage,
And there's no light at the end of the tunnel-
No escape, no reprieve, no pause in the stage
Where life runs a sold-out performance like hell.

It does takes more courage wrought out of raw steel,
Like the drilling and cutting done on a stone.
The length of time with Pain numbs all that you feel
As hard as a diamond is the heart you own.

As you look back now with a sense of release,
The Past cannot hurt you like it did before.
The cracks may remain but you stand in one piece-
Stone cold with gladiator-grit, ready for more.
