Have You Come To Realize Poem by Francis Duggan

Have You Come To Realize

Have you come to realize that your best years have gone
And only the memories in you living on
Of your younger years and the what used to be
And what we have of the past is stored in our memory
The young women of your younger years lovely to behold
Just like you are ageing everybody grows old
Though none of them became your lover or partner or wife
That youthful attraction can be quick to fade is part of human life
Some of the friends of your youth where the desceased are does lay
And some they are ageing in lands far away
And most of your ex friends in the hometown today
To you no lonper close things just happen this way
And only the memories with you does remain
Of what used to be for you but will not be again.
