He Came In The Night Poem by Merlene Campbell

He Came In The Night

On that night, I remember clear
Those eyes of lies and no fear
As I smiled when I saw his face
He broke my heart without embrace
Standing outside my window seal
Alone and tired, my smiled disappeared
I cried myself to sleep that night
He must have been too good for me
I knew right then as I know now
He was meant for a better crowd
Now I see his smiling face with a girl
Who will be his mate
As I look upon their glow
A happiness inside me grows
I'm so glad he dumped me flat
I have grown because of that
