He Chose To Eat Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

He Chose To Eat

Attacked!
He sought shelter in silence.
Angered.
They could not locate,
Another word of his to deny!
Accustomed to disagree...
With anyone who came to rescue them.
They grew weak and mentally unnourished.
And when left alone,
They realized...
He who came to speak,
Spoke and did not joke or entertain their whims.
They missed beating him with collective ignorance.
And he who they chased away...
Did not miss one meal he chose to eat alone!
He wanted to share,
The variety of life...
And the spices he discovered; enjoyed and liked!
