He Tells A Sad Story Poem by Joyce Hemsley

He Tells A Sad Story

Rating: 4.8

Quote:

Oh how madly in love we fell
in the springtime before we were wed,
but fate soon dismantled our passion
when green lights changed to bright red.

I wish I had read the signs sooner
I wish I had been more aware.
The sight of Maria with another
was heart-rending; too hard to bear!

Her fingers were adorned with his diamonds,
he kissed her soft-flowing hair
he wooed my Maria with love songs
AND he was handsome as she was fair!

Friends say there will be a new Eden
but that first love we shared was so dear.
If their sudden affair passes with time,
then I will surely be waiting there.

Yes, waiting for my darling Maria...
my beautiful dancing queen.
And we will buy a ticket to heaven
when those red lights turn back to green.
