Heart's Emptiness Poem by Anshul Gupta

Heart's Emptiness

Seven seas shall prove insufficient
to fill an empty human heart
A cool shower of God's love
Shall only quench
this burning sand of desert.

Friends, Family,
Relatives and Neighbors
All try to fill in the space;
Poor fellows with good intentions
end up blowing inside
cold airs of their own emptiness.

This dry slice of bread
Needs greasing of faith;
Only God has the sugar
for this bitter tea;
Worldly sweetness
shall leave it all tasteless.

Centuries have passed
This dark room is waiting
for a ray of light
Don't leave anything
for the next moment
Now is the time, now is the time.

I like this metonymy and personification at the same time: ''This dark room is waiting for a ray of light''-wonderful poem, thank you for sharing
