Heartbeat Poem by sodoko zavaki

Heartbeat

I hold my breath, listening for the heartbeat
"thump thump"
There it is again
I heard it clearly this time, I'm not imaging it
I search the room for the source of the sound
I can hear it more loudly this time
I slowly creep towards the corner, curious
It gets louder and louder with each step I take
I finally reach it, grasping it in my hands
It glows and hovers above my hands
Then slowly disappears into my chest
