Help Us Lord

Help us Lord to see ourselves
For the sinners that we are
And how we've kept aloft from You
Which distance is very far
Little have we in our minds
The greatness of You God
By Your Spirit draw us nearer
And to the reading of Your Word

There's not a library on this whole earth
Which could contain the sum of it
Yet you've inspired by Your power
The author of every writ
Yet the writing which tops them all
The faith packed Word of God
Is often left to gather dust
Therefore often misunderstood

Bring us Lord to search its pages
From the first book to the last
From Genesis to Revelation
Prophetic future from the past
To see that blood wooven tapestry
For the forgiveness of our sin
And bring us to a will of repentance
Then we shall be born again

Of all the books of earth I treasure
There's one above all else
I too once had it gathering dust
And left upon a shelf
But praise God for that enlightenment day
When I saw Christ for who He was
How great God's love for me a sinner!
Now I own His worthy cause!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
