Helpless I Am Poem by jeannie wischki

Helpless I Am

Rating: 5.0

Words I have searched to find for you
To help to understand what you're going through
Brave face you smile, all class and grace
Hurts my heart you've been put in this race
The race against time to find the cure
The pain and fear you have to endure
To know that your life will never be the same
Surely with such sacrifice there is much to be gained
Life is a mystery no reason nor rhyme
My fingers are crossed, don't let it be time
Fear of uncertainty make it so hard to breathe
I wait for a trick to be pulled from a sleeve
The magic from doctors to make things alright
The sadness I feel just watching the fight
You in your corner all battered and bruised
Me sitting alongside with no clue what to do
The amazement of you taking up fight
I just want to hug you, and say all will be right
But if honest be told, I don't know for sure
My fingers are cross they soon find a cure.
While we wait for that, I'm still here for you
I can just hold your hand if you are wanting me to,
I can swear and scream about how it's not right
Sit with you when you're alone at night
It won't sort your problem, this is sure true
As helpless as I am it's the least I can do
