Hemorrhageal Hiatus Poem by Mona Adviento

Hemorrhageal Hiatus

Cut me wide open with a paring knife
Watch me bleed under the cover of night
My dreams are filled with your lamentations
Denied by the chasm on which I reside
In an unguarded moment tainted by sorrow
Day finds tiles spotted with vaporized salts-
Sole witnesses to a perpetual struggle.
In the blazing greeting of each new morning
I construe the signs harmoniously conniving
To conceal the hatchet drenched in sero-sanguinous fluid
Staining the earth on which I walk on,
Merging with the obscurity of particulate matter.

Bludgeon me from a distance
With the sharpness of your deception
Reaching over from the grave of ancient history.
Graze the abrasion a million times till all my tissues have necrotized into nothingness
Till all the nerves have been obliterated
and all is left is a remnant of a life form.
Enthrall me with your violence enlivened by the sheer animality of your nature.
Tear me limb from limb. Wreak havoc on my person
Shred me into shards of glass and leave in a state, totally annihilated.
My eyes shall stare out from the remains of this massacre with a life of its own.
Piercing through that armor of apathy
Seizing your myocardium with an intensity that shall offend, even rationality.

I am breathless with effort and it feeds me, a phantom,
hailing from the depths of Hades
The vapors of life slowly draining away into oblivion
On the battlefields we have slain each other
And have stripped our souls from their humanity.
We have unleashed the ferocity suppressed by propriety.
The brutality of our combat belying the fear that has gripped us once before.
Purge this body of this vehemence
That had engulfed this human, reducing her to an outlet of hostility.
The hours have ended in a heap of casualties
I am spent from this fury, it has taken all of me.
Dusk begins painted red with this bloodshed.

I am a sink with an open drain
Everything runs through me.
Leave me lifeless
And I shall subsist on mortality itself.
