Hero Poem by Rose Marie Cook

Hero

Emptiness runs within
Taking place of my soul
My smile strong
Never faulters

My eyes stone
I am so cold
My support is gone
No one to stop me

Where is my protector?
Who is my hero?
Who is going to ride in and rescue me?
No one, no one is here to save me

My heart beats faster
My eyes cloud over with fear
My strength is fading
I'm afraid death is here

He's latching on
Taking my soul
Taking all of me
And I'm all alone

The only one who cares enough
Is here and taking me from this world
Where is my protector?
Who is my hero?
Who's gonna stop me?

The answer was there all along
His name is Death.
