Hide And Seek Poem by Mehreen Mujeeb

Hide And Seek

She had her heart
Played around
Like plasticine.
It was molded
Into different shapes
Ground into shades of green.

Green venom.

Her body
Turned against her soul
No one
Even her
Could satisfy the black hole.

Her tenses started to intertwine
To find the past in the future;
The present out of line.

She's trapped in a labyrinth
Built with bricks of eyes
Watching her every step
Even when she cries.

Her lungs form tornadoes
Molesting her nerves
Signals she never thought
Never felt.

She's an actor who doesn't know
The characters she plays.
Even when the curtains fall
She doesn't stop
Until she lays.

She plays games with reality
But has to face her dreams
Her sleep doesn't suffice rest
Her stitches break from the seams.

I knew her before
She was plasticine
We used to laugh
At shades of green.
Now she's nothing
Or at least it seems.

I can only feel the wind
When it swirls against me.
I can only feel myself
When I breeze up from my knee.
