Hired Congressional Goons Make Congress Cower Poem by James Walter Orr

Life is full of disappointments,
as has often been remarked.
There’s been endless controversy,
in discussions this has sparked.

Now, I want to go on record,
just before they post the news,
so our sheep-like legislature
will hear, once again, my views.

I think you, as gutless wonders,
should be known, with sad acclaim,
as prime members of our era:
paid with bribes to dull your shame.

Your spokesmen use first grader math
in bold prevarication,
that pads your personal bank account,
and lays in waste our nation.

Big business buys your squads of goons,
and sends, as our law-makers,
you right-wing fools, who sell your souls,
and serve as progress-breakers.

You try to hide fifth-column aims,
with your dogmatic lying,
disguise yourselves as blue-tick hounds,
all common sense defying.
