Hit This Button To Submit

I love pressing buttons.
So, when I saw a new restaurant
with a sign that read 'Open',
press button for service.
I looked on their entrance door for a button.
I was anxious to press this button
Like Pavlov's dog
I was compelled to find
some doorbell to press..
Push push push
press press press.
I scanned on top of their door
I looked up and down their side paneling
I checked the door jam.
I couldn't find a gong to pull
nor a button to press.
Not only could I not find one
but. after many fruitless minutes
without results,
I realized I wasn't hungry anymore.
As I sat on their outside
bench contemplating
this Zen moment;
I thought
what if there had been a buzzer
to press..
to be granted entrance
through
a swinging door or open gate.
What if entering and accepting service
would not have been
in my best interest, or theirs.
Regardless, this scavenger hunt
had worn me down
But, at least their were lessons unfolding.
We press too many buttons
We are always looking for that next button to push.
Sometimes the best we can do
is not find the button
Or not create a button to push,
in the first place.
But, just as Royalty needs subjects.
Actors need lines.
A theater needs an audience.
A key needs it's corresponding lock.
We search for buttons to push.
Commoners and kings alike
are skilled at
finding buttons,
turning knobs, hitting key strokes
potentially setting off an earthquake of chain reactions
It's important to consider
the cost/benefit
of having a plethora of buttons to push.
Such is my current dilemma.
Whether or not to push
the 'submit' button
to 'publish' this piece of work.
