Home At Last Poem by Ruth Kamasungua

Home At Last

The plane landed on the tarmac
Bringing my heart back
Into its socket
The steps descend down
toward the humble soil
Dismantles dislocation
My feet eases
As it touches the soil
Connecting me to my umbilical cord
I am home
Home where I belong
The mountains waved in their blueness
Their peaks hidden behind lofty clouds
The cold air sneaked up to welcome me
Trembling my bones
As it whipped a kiss on my blushed cheek
I am home at last
The welcome was awesome!
