Hospital Bed Poem by Leaking Pen

Hospital Bed

Where does a life go from here?
Where does mine go from here?
Opinions vary from mine to yours
I could take a taxi…
Head to a new destination
Have the taxi drop me off
And allow my feet
To target a passer-by
And see where fate takes me
Life might seem like
A chance roll of the dice
I have no control over mine
Who is the fool who said?
We control our destiny
Must have been drunk
With legs tripping and stumbling
At any rate and at any time
Someone we know
Has departed…
We became acquainted
Through the Internet
The world is a smaller place today
Like a pack of chewing gum
Easy to count down the pieces
From the weight of the package
And each time we chew on one
Our life span proportionally
Looses a cycle
By a minute, an hour
A day or a month
Then years fold
Like some plants do at sunset
And I wonder if plants
Have awareness
Like humans do
Of Easter resurrection
Built into their DNA
When they come back to life
The following sunrise
An observation on my part
But with huge ramifications
I take my clues from nature
My nature is to observe
And follow its lead
Wherever it takes me
To find a ray of light
Into the heart of darkness
You and I do count for something
And this key to my understanding
Always few steps from my front door
And with sweet icing on a birthday cake
I celebrate our rebirth with a loud amen!
