How Are You? Poem by Rimni chakravarty

'How Are you? I am fine and what about you?
I am fine too and thanks for the wish',
Many a times we meet under the blue
And exchange our greetings with an artificial smile
Deep down our heart may feel heavy all the while
Yet we want to see our worries vanquish.

But then we don't want to speak the truth
May be utter only those words which might soothe
Yes those words might sooth us like a balm
We may try to read the lines of our palm
And understand what our destiny has to predict
And anxiously await for its verdict.

But balm is applied only on the skin
What happens if the root cause of the disease lie deep within?
Could the application of balm cure the disease?
Then why not speak out the truth and be at ease?

Let us then sincerely reply the question of 'how are you? '
And feel easy under the blue.
