How Are You In Heaven? Poem by Richard Netherland Cook

How Are You In Heaven?

Years in Heaven have you spent,
Among the Angels so content,
Yet no voice or whisper has come down,
To tell us of the wonder found.

The silence leaves our hearts in pain,
For we know not of your loss or gain,
When Heavenly Gates did open wide,
And took the spirit of you inside.

Sorrow blossoms, lonely hearts wait,
But there is no sound from Heavens Gate,
The spirit is silent, but the thought we embrace,
Are you happy in your Heavenly Place?

You walked on earth, was happy here,
With all the loved ones you held dear,
Now we cannot paint you as you are,
Are dream of you as a distant star.

From all the fear and earthly strife,
In Heaven is there a richer life?
Can it be as all who dream,
Filled with beauty and so serene?

How are you in Heaven dear?
Do flowers bloom as they do here?
Are the streets so paved with gold,
Like all the stories that have been told?

Are friends and loved ones really there,
With earthly memories you can share?
Can you sit on a cloud so free,
And gaze gently down on me?

Will you my love be at Heavens Door,
And stay with me forever more,
And be as happy as you must be,
Residing in Heaven for eternity?

In time we shall know the answer craved,
As our spirit moves beyond the grave,
To once again come face to face,
With you my love in your Heavenly Place.
