How Long? Poem by Heather Z. Hanna

How Long?

Rating: 0.5

How long will I last
Waiting for your attention?
Will my hope fade fast
Or will I slip away,
When doubt and worry,
Creep in upon my mind
And slowly erode my Heart's
Stubbornly high hopes?

My want is to stay faithful
To the possibility of a lasting relationship
Built on a mutual understanding
Of having no demands or expectations.
Yet agreeing to hold each other close in friendship
And admiration.

Is it possible to do this?
In my Heart's imagination
It is the ultimate dream
Could it be too much?
It is said that nothing ventured
Is nothing gained.
Yet doubt is a circling hawk
Searching for the smallest movement
To catch it's eye
That it may feast another day.
