I do not want any
unwholesome talk
come out of my mouth.
I shall speak only
only what is helpful
for building others up
according to their needs.
I want to get rid of
all bitterness,
rage and anger,
brawling and slander,
along with every form of malice.
I want to be compassionate
and kind to all whom I meet.
When I do all these
I begin to be compassionate
to my own self
and I love myself.
(Ref. Ephesians 4: 29-32 in the Holy Bible) .
I want to be compassionate and kind to all whom I meet. That is so wonderful. An emotion so sublime....dear Tony.
nice poem…to the point about charity and being able to love others before one can love themselves

what you say, tony, makes me think of the last request in the lord's prayer—deliver us from ourselves and the evil one. for me it means not adding to the guilt and shame already committed in our lives. i also think, though, of the importance of forgiving—ourselves and others—and am reminded of ps 103 which tells us God removes our sins as far as the east is from the west and that God pities us as a father his children. -glen
