How to Avoid a Broken Heart

If you meet a charming boy or smart girl
Don't chat, smile, laugh or hug
Do not ask them out
Cross your arms and look away
Look sad, sour and
Pout

Don't talk about your dreams
or tell them who you are
Keep your secrets to yourself
To avoid getting scarred

Don't reveal your inner thoughts
Keep your heart up on the shelf
Moisten it with tears
When you let down your guard

Don't express any emotion
Tuck your feelings away
Don't expose any weaknesses
Keep desire and longing at bay

Put your affection in a box
and throw away the key
Toss intimacy and sharing
to the bottom of the sea

To avoid a broken heart
Please read the above
But most of all remember
Not to fall in love

Poem of the Day

poet Emily Jane Brontë

I am the only being whose doom
No tongue would ask no eye would mourn
I never caused a thought of gloom
A smile of joy since I was born
