Humanity's Been Hoodwinked Poem by Edwina Reizer

Humanity's Been Hoodwinked

The world is a dangerous place
for anyone right now.
Just take a look around you,
you'll wrinkle up your brow.

All of these occurances
one after another
makes it hard to be
a father or a mother.

You look into the eyes
that put their trust in you.
You think about their future
and don't know what to do.

What can you tell them?
What can you say?
That the world's gone crazy
but it will be okay?

We're on a runaway train
that's on the wrong track.
And it keeps on going.
There's no turning back.

The monsters in suits
wearing red ties
have dollars in their sockets
instead of just eyes.

I wish there was an answer
but I think we've gone too far.
Humanity's been hoodwinked.
All that's left is one big scar.
