Humble Light Poem by Bill Cantrell

Humble Light

Rating: 5.0

Oh firefly,
Who was privileged,
To form your template?
Most certainly,
You were crafted to make our hearts leap
When the harsh winter has come to its end,
And the spring has become exhausted,
You became a mediator between seasons
A peace offering of promise is your warm glow
Phasing in and out of a moment,
We cannot help but to take notice
You have the charm of fairies,
As all children trust you
Tracers of wonders you are,
Falling stars envy you,
And why?
For you stay with us,
Choosing to live and die,
Sending your offspring to remind us of our humanity
Oh how I love you,
You are a simplicity of life indeed,
Yet, nothing is really simple,
Is it?
Oh firefly,
My wish is to do you justice,
In this humble poem,
Forever may you glow!

Indeed, the firefly springs from an inspiring template, wondrous and fanciful. Its soft light, blinking at the threshold of darkness, reminds us that beauty is transitory, and that our vision is precious. I like your observation that its apparent simplicty is not really simple.
