Hunger Poem by Timothy Lee Hollandsworth Jr.

Hunger

Rating: 4.0

Send me over seas
To defend the free
Bring me home
I can't get a bone

No shelter from the rain
Was it all in vain?
No pity for the poor
What did I suffer for?

Can no one spare a dime?
Look at my awful crime
I had no other choice
But to silence this voice.

I gave in to the hunger.

Now they're chasin after
Don't think I can run any faster
I draw my gun
Remnant from the past I shun.

The heavy lead penetrates.
Is this how they appreciate?
Maybe it is my fault.
Maybe that's why I'm meant to rot.

But I could not escape.
And now it is too late.
I crumple to the ground,
Sirens sound all around.

Because I gave in to
The hunger.
