I Am A Ghost Poem by Theresa Goertz

I Am A Ghost

Rating: 3.5

I am ghost
I talk to you
But you can’t hear me
I shove you
But you can’t feel me
I look at you
But you can’t see me
I’m invisible
No one can see me
No one can hear my cries
No one can save me
Except for you
With the blue eyes
You hold me to this world
You keep me sane
You’re a ghost like me
So there’s one thing I’ve gained
You may not know I exist
For you can’t acknowledge your life like this
Alive but not seen
Nor heard
Nor felt
A world like mine
Where no one knows you exist
You wander the halls of emptiness
You walk close to me
Look and keep walking
For you cannot comprehend
Being a ghost to no end
There’s no way out
Except to die again
Impossible yet there
Unbelievably close
Yet unbelievably far
Within your grasp
Yet out of reach
This is how I live
This is how I wander
close yet far
You may not know when I look at you
But just knowing you’re there will keep me here
I’m a ghost you cannot see
Nor feel
Nor hear my desperate silent pleas
I just want someone to notice I’m there
But for now all I need is one glimpse of you there
And I’m held to the ground
Tortured when you’re not there
It’s true when I don’t see you I cry
I don’t know why… I just cry
To me you’re like the ocean wide and vast
Yet small and contained
Strong and tall
Yet gentle and kind
Your hair like gold when the sun shines
Eyes so blue I feel like I could look at them and never drink water again
A heart so pure
It makes mine look like murky water
I’m a ghost so tell me what you think you’d see if you could see me
Good-bye, farewell my fellow ghost hope I see you when I make a mental toast
Yet how will you see me for I am invisible never to be seen, heard, or felt for I am a ghost that wanders the halls
In endless despair
For I’m surrounded by darkness
With only you as a light!
