I Am Already In Name An Internet Immortal Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Am Already In Name An Internet Immortal

I AM ALREADY IN NAME AN INTERNET IMMORTAL

I am an already in name an Internet immortal
And like millions of others
I have many pages that reference me.

But I know somehow at some future time
In five years or fifty million
It will not be-
The end will come in some surprise I cannot know now.
And all my immortal name will be as if it never were.

So why do I seek to have a name at all?
And what is literary glory?

I will die
And who knows how many years later
My name will die also.

The only immortality is from God
God knows and God decides
And who will live and who will die
Does not depend on these lines either.
