I Am King Poem by Paul Butters

I Am King

I am king of the world, universe and everywhere,
But I have only a hint of power.
So all I can give you is attitude.
Just pointing out injustice
Where I see it.

Classes and castes and religious divides
I see as evils
To be opposed
With all my might.

For sure I've little might
Of course,
But I still have the right
To say that it's all wrong.

Classless society is what we want:
Well anyone who's worth his, or her salt wants this.
Religious discrimination is another thing
We need to remove
From our way of life.

There are many more evils in our world,
So we must do
All we can
To obliterate them
At every opportunity.

I can't put this any other way,
Poetic or not,
We have to stand
And fight
Against all that we see
As bad.
For the Common Good.

Wonderful write. I love the message. An awful lot of things are so wrong in our world. One problem, I feel, is that so many crooks seem to thrive on negative publicity. The media make the biggest crooks instantly famous.I dream of a world filled with kindness, filled with love. But it is somehow more than a dream: it has become a hope. But it is somehow more than a hope: it has been become an belief. But somehow it is more than that. Over time it has become a certainty in my mind. Sooner rather than later we will see a kindness revolution. Every small deed of kindness leading to a few more. Exponentially growing until explodes in the steep limb of the exponential curve. Media will attract more viewers with positive than with negative news. Sorry, my comment becoming too long. Very thought provoking poem. I think poems are provoking many thoughts, they rank among the best of poems. This one certainly does.

WOW Hans. You get Comment of the Month for sure. Yes I like to provoke thought sometimes. Especially when provoked myself, in this case by a TV Documentary. Thanks again.
