I Am My Father's Child Poem by Patricia Clarke

I Am My Father's Child

Rating: 5.0

I cannot- - BREATHE.
I needed my father, but he was not close to me.
I fear he has left because of our incongruity.
I'm on the journey to which I have always been
The same that caused all to envy me
My one reason for being,
My force beyond sublimity,
But now it feels awfully new to me.

I've become a lion with quick sand feet
But all still look to me
Expectations higher now than ever could be.
My true nature I'm fighting to be
But my jungle seems miles in and acres deep.
I try to find another with whom to speak
But - -
THEY ARE NONE
You all come to me.

The thrill to fight, has left me
Letting go I must.

Now acceptance I finally feel
It is my father's will that I must seek.

My heart aches for you
My love, you will forever be.

But still - -
I am my father's child.

A great tribute to a father by his loving daughter. Thanks for sharing. I fear he has left because of our incongruity. I try to find another with whom to speak But.... THEY ARE NONE.
