I Am Not A Refugee Poem by Firoz Ahmed Ebrahim

I Am Not A Refugee

Rating: 5.0

you can
barricade the border with barbed wire
you cannot
stop the rain from falling

you
turn back the overburdened inflatables
you cannot
stop the ebb and flow of the tide

you can build a wall as high as the sky
you cannot
stop the sun from rising on a new day

i am the rain
i am the tide
i am the sun

i am the seed from within the earth
i am born free
i am not a refugee

i am home
