I Am Yours Poem by Violet Warren

I Am Yours

I wish I could have looked into the future
to see where I am standing now
so I would know that consequences
aren't only for the quick and loud

this can't be the end
cause the end is like a friend
that never comes around
this is not just a phase
for it has shattered my days
as I'm stepping on my broken glass

tears drops and refracted light
have been stolen by the outcasts of our time
unicorns used to flourish
but now are only in the lives of the selfish
I used to write on walls, but now I write on ceilings
because I've lost my touch of hopeful feelings
I think I know what I've been looking for
but it's always seems like I'm one breath too short
one step too short to my opening door

I can see pitch black darkness swallowing me
it's taking my breathe away

I wish I could see through foggy windows
so maybe I would know what's like outside
cause why would I want to put on a pair of sneakers
to step in the mud and get mad out of my mind

happy trees and melodies singing inside of our offerings
but so many of us don't feel them
we think that we are the most important
the one and only orchids to be brought to life
just like shades of blue and red are always happening
I am yours
open our eyes and close our mouths
because our loving words are heading south
forgive me
