Royston Allen

I attended my funeral today

I attended my funeral today
because my soul had just soared away.
For I had breathed out my final breath
then walked with Jesus through the Vale of Death.

And my soul no longer needed to share
the dead body that lay in the coffin there
because its sell by date had now expired.
It was empty and was longer required.

A new body had been given to me
one that was equipped for eternity.
No longer subject to pain and decay
just like Jesus had that first Easter day.

When you have grieved, I hope that you'll all see
that we can once again united be.
For each Christian death's a stepping stone
and all of us shall meet before God's throne

Poem of the Day

poet Christopher Marlowe

It lies not in our power to love or hate,
For will in us is overruled by fate.
When two are stripped, long ere the course begin,
