I Call Forth The Poet Poem by connie crane

I Call Forth The Poet

Today, if I may,
I call forth the poet in you.
The giddy, dancing, Sufi
That twirls in ecstasy
Endlessly.
I am your muse.
When you read my words
Your soul awakens
The poet within you quickens
And soon my monologue
Becomes a dialogue
Of awakening
Awake, O beautiful one
With beauty beyond description.
Come bathe me with the words
That are your definition
Of our divine romance.
On and on our lives will flow
Out of their source
And back again
I will beckon you to taste love’s joys
You will awaken within me the heart
Of the lover I was meant to be.
I want to live on the edge of passion
Like a surfer always looking for a bigger wave
Will you take me there
To the depths and the heights
Of darkness and light
Of all that is in you
That is me?
