I Can'T Do This Alone Poem by Elizabeth Forrest

I Can'T Do This Alone

Shhhhhhhhh... Listen... do you hear it? Do you hear the tapping of the raindrops on the ground? Rain.. so natural.. so pure, falling unobstructed from the clouds like these tears from my saturated eyes. I am suddenly shaken to the ground. Cold and shivering I look up at the sky watching as every lightning bolt strikes across the magnificent canvas above as if it were piercing my mind. I close my eyes as the thunder rumbles the ground beneath me. I grab my head as thoughts of you bounce around in my mind. The desire that bleeds through my body for you has sent my senses into overload. I try to get up but I sit motionless, gravity gripping me tighter and tighter the harder i try. I close my eyes again but all I see is pictures of you. Then suddenly everything goes black. I can feel the breath seeping in and out of my chest. I cannot speak and I cannot see but I still hear your voice echoing through my mind. I sense you. I feel you all about me. I whisper as though you can hear me: Help me, I can't do this alone.
