I Cannot Go Back Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

I Cannot Go Back

Yesterday belongs to the past
There is so much of Pain buried there
I breathe free now, released at last!
But sometimes I look back and remember.

Leaving had taken all my strength,
Drained me almost to nothingness.
Pulled my will and being at length
I was numbed by all of the weariness.

Yet now I know Someone heard my cry
Though each day then, a thousand deaths.
I rose up to stand up again, head high
Breaking dawn came after my sunsets.

I cannot go back, too much is at stake
I may lose sanity just by trying.
Suffice it to say our own Choices make
If our lives will be worth our living!
